We seek a Vice President, Origination to lead the identification and development of new opportunities in the alternative energy sector. This role is crucial in driving our company's growth by developing and maintaining key partner relationships, and identifying and securing new project opportunities that align with our strategic and financial objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, and originate development opportunities to support the growth of our alternative energy platform across North America.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with potential counterparties and industry partners.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective clients, internal executives, and shareholders.
  • Build, maintain, and manage a robust sales pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Respond to proposal requests and manage internal team activities to pursue each opportunity effectively.
  • Lead negotiations, alongside senior management and legal counsel, of long-term commercial agreements related to energy projects.
  • Participate in the technical advancement and preliminary engineering of potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with the project development team to create detailed budgets and timelines for each opportunity.
  • Work closely with leadership to secure equity and debt financing for new projects and investments.
  • Travel 25-50% of the time to potential project locations across North America.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Assess and provide insights on current market conditions affecting business development within the alternative energy sector.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant business development experience.
  • Proven success in business-to-business (B2B) sales.
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy or complex projects involving significant investment and construction.
  • Direct experience working with public entities, including counties, cities, and regional authorities.

About You:

  • Deep understanding of the alternative energy industry, with familiarity in related standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of project finance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; advanced skills in MS Excel and project financial modeling are a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with industries such as landfill management; experience in wastewater management is an advantage.
  • Effective communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent proposal development and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively identifying and addressing opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • A track record of success, driven by the challenge of winning in a competitive market.
