Job Purpose

  • We have an amazing opportunity to join the Rolls-Royce SMR Engineering Team working as a PSA Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for Developing and maintaining the PSA as part of the overall safety assessment programme, providing support across the Engineering department to advise on design options based on PSA analysis to ensure the best outcome.
  • This role would require a high level of quality and governance being applied to all PSA developments and submissions to support the Environment, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S) Case aspects for GDA.
  • The team has a unique inclusive culture and is comprised of expert professionals all working together to achieve excellence. Rolls Royce SMR are developing a full Small Modular Reactor system, in this role you will gain exposure to all elements and systems with an opportunity for you to pivot in your role to account for your personal interests. This, along with diverse stakeholder contact and management means you will gain invaluable experience and knowledge.

Criteria

  • Developing and applying PSA to Nuclear facilities in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Using PSA to support in the “Risk Informed” Design of a Nuclear Power Plant
  • Developing and applying techniques of PSA with topics such as fault trees and event trees, reliability data analysis, internal and external hazards, risk monitor, and system dependency topics.
  • Providing PSA analysis using tools such as RiskSpectrum PSA, writing macros in Excel and having knowledge of SQL.
  • Communicating across Engineering teams to effectively develop and integrated Engineering & Safety solution.


Key Results

  • Productive contribution to the development and review of the Rolls-Royce SMR PSA.
  • Accurate and appropriate representation of the project to technical internal and external stakeholder reviews.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and maintenance of Rolls-Royce SMR’s Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Keep up to date with Nuclear Industry developments and the work of relevant external groups both in the UK and worldwide.


Training & Qualifications

  • Degree Qualified in relevant field.
  • Relevant demonstrated experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartered Status with a professional engineering or equivalent body.


Pay and Benefits 

  • We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 - £57,5000, plus:
  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchase

Our Screening Process

  • Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
  • Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
