Senior Nuclear Risk and Safety Expert

Lead the next wave of applied nuclear innovation. In this role you will drive internal research and build external partnerships with leading research institutes and cutting edge industry on first of a kind projects, including small modular reactors. You will design and prove safety frameworks, turn experimental insight into robust methods and tools, and guide technologies from concept to demonstration. Duties and responsibilities:

• Participation in the joint Halden Project and other research activities related to safety assessment of digital I&C systems
• Conduct applied research and client projects within safety
• Contribute to writing of applications for external funding
• Contribute to development of competence within the group
• Report to the research manager

In addition for Senior Researcher:

• Lead and manage projects
• Initiate and secure funding through national and international research proposals
• Collaborate with industry and government partners to translate research into impactful solutions
• Supervise and mentor junior researchers, fostering a collaborative research environment
• Play a key role in advancing risk and safety research, representing IFE in professional forums, publications, and strategic initiatives

Desired Qualifications:

• Good knowledge of risk and safety assessment of systems that include software
• Good knowledge of safety case
• Good knowledge of system and/or software development
• Knowledge or interest to work with nuclear safety and/or hydrogen safety
• Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Education Level: College/University, Master/PhD grade
