Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Integration Engineer, a Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the development of multi-disciplinary development of a site-specific Rolls-Royce SMR
SMR power station design.
This role will integrate and co-ordinate the site-specific design activities on a Rolls- Royce SMR development project as the senior engineering leader within the project team. The role will require extensive interfacing and team working around the entire programme, internally and externally, developing all aspects of the site-specific design with a key focus on ensuring integration with the generic development of the Rolls-Royce SMR.
The role is accountable for the planning and delivery of engineering deliverables to meet the needs of the clients site development programme. The senior engineering manager will work with the project management team to identify the resources necessary to deliver and then lead and manage the team in the project matrix organisation.
The candidate will be an engineering leader with a strong proven record of planning and delivery of large complex programmes with extensive client and regulatory engagement. The candidate will demonstrate power station, or equivalent large-scale infrastructure, petrochemical, FOAK energy projects, complex infrastructure with heavy slant towards mechanical and associated systems knowledge and have experience of leading mulit-disciplinary engineering design programmes, with strong experience of early stage nuclear and/or environmental regulatory requirements. Some experience of construction and logistics considerations on infrastructure projects would be valuable.
Key Results Areas
Develop and lead the site-specific multidisciplinary team to ensure a fully integrated complete power station design is developed.
Provide leadership to deliver all engineering aspects of the development programme covering all systems, structures and components across the power station. This will cover all stages of the project lifecycle.
Control and report against engineering progress of a site-specific project including:
Input to the physical adaptation and variant requirements management for SMR applications across projects, covering different global regions and sites.
Provide input and support to the operations and delivery organisation of the business.
Assist the Chief Integration engineer in managing the measurement and monitoring of compliance with the power station top level attributes and objectives, with specific focus on the physical site characteristics, construction metrics and cost.
Provide wider support to engagement with Business Development and prospective customers as needed in support of the engineering function.
Provide support and integrate engineering output into the supply chain and wider operations business as needed.
Implement the programme Health, Safety and Environment policy on all designated activities.

Key Selection Criteria
Experience in a senior engineering management position, managing circa 20+ people, and reporting on budgets up to £10m+ Demonstrable project leadership
Proven experience of implementing best practice methods and new ways of working, whilst leading and coaching a diverse team
Experience of managing project and technical metrics and attributes to ensure target performance
Demonstrable design and leadership experience in similar applications, as part of an engineering management function
Demonstrable experience of power plant / site development and integration in relation to interfaces with civil engineering systems, structures and components
Experience of development nuclear/environmental safety cases and interface with nuclear and environmental regulators. Experience of infrastructure planning regulations and approvals.

Training and Qualification Requirements
The candidate will be a Chartered Engineer or equivalent and hold a relevant technical degree level qualification or will have equivalent relevant industry experience.
